Young Adult Education/Employment Bursary (Open Door Bursary)

The Open Door Bursary supports low-income youth between the ages of 16-25 who have no other funding options available to them to successfully transition into further education, training, or employment.

The Bursary opens doors to youth who do not meet the eligibility criteria of other bursaries and grants. Eligible expenses are as follows:

  • application fees to universities and colleges
  • course upgrading fees to qualify for a post-secondary program
  • program-related supplies e.g., textbooks
  • cost of short training programs that can lead to employment e.g., security guard training, food handling courses, etc.
  • essential items to start a job such as work boots and uniforms

Applicants who have or are attending post-secondary programs are not eligible for funding.

For more information about this program, please email Larasha Farrington, Grants Coordinator, or call (587) 392 – 8256.
